The Mayfield Member of the Mt. Simon Sandstone (Templeton, 1950, p. 155).

Derivation

Named for Mayfield Township, De Kalb County.

The type section of the Mayfield Member of the Mt. Simon Sandstone is located 5 miles east of Mayfield Township, De Kalb County. It is the interval from 2495-2850 feet deep (sample set 1301) in the same boring as the Crane Member.

The Mayfield Member is 145-390 feet thick.
