Illinois Water and Related Wells Web Mapping Application (ILWATER)

The ISGS is an official repository for records of wells drilled in the state of Illinois in our Geoscience Information Stewardship Section. Paper records are archived for over 700,000 wells. Some of these records go back as far as the late 1800s. Water and related well data can be accessed for private water wells, engineering borings, and stratigraphic borings.  Many of the paper records have been converted to digital and are searchable within the ILWATER Interactive Map. For records of known wells that exist on your property or project but do not appear in ILWATER, please contact Donna McCoy, (217) 333-8655, or email dmccoy@illinois.edu for possible paper records.

ILWATER was last updated on November 10, 2015.  Updates include, but are not limited to, updating the API Number links to reflect a new Oracle database server, adding more selection tools (like point, line, and freehand lines and polygons), tooltips when you hover over Status, and some minor changes to filtering selections.

BlueView Log Image Manipulation Software is offered for download from Schlumberger.

Also added with this update was a mobile version.  Now when try to navigate to the ILWATER application on a mobile phone you will automatically be redirected to a mobile version.  The mobile version was created using Esri's Web AppBuilder.  If you can access the internet over a WiFi or cellular network, you can access the data you are used to accessing from your desktop using the mobile app.

If you have any problems with any of the new functionality, desktop or mobile, please contact Melony Barrett by email (mebarret@illinois.edu) or phone 217-333-7917.

The current ILWATER application was built using Esri ArcGIS for Server version 10.3,  Esri’s ArcGIS API for Flex version 3.7, and the Adobe Flex SDK 4.6.0.  The application software and hardware are updated as necessary to provide greater stability and more functionality for our users.
