This year marks the 50th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America’s North-Central Section, to be held April 18–19 at the I Hotel and Conference Center on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The meeting theme, 1967–2016: Celebrating 50 Years of Geoscience in the Mid-Continent, captures the progress and future prospects of the geosciences in our region.

In celebration of the 50th year of North-Central Section meetings, we are offering engaging presentations and posters that highlight advances in the geosciences since 1967, review developments in the various geoscience disciplines, discuss current or emerging research issues, and explore emerging research techniques or technologies. The Technical Program Co-Chairs have organized 39 Theme Sessions for the conference. The full listing of Theme Sessions can be found by clicking here. The Program Book can be found by clicking here. GSA President-elect Dr. Claudia Mora will give the Keynote Presentation on Monday afternoon, April 18. The Exhibit Hall at the 50th Annual Meeting also provides an excellent opportunity to interact with geoscience and geotechnical practitioners, faculty, and students specifically interested in the geology of the Midwest in an atmosphere of relaxed exchange.
