Current Research Projects:
Accelerating use of CO2 EOR in Illinois Basin, calibrating geocellular models of selected oilfields through history matching and using reservoir simulation to evaluate the potential of CO2 EOR;
Depositional Environment and Efficiency Project, developing reservoir models based on the geocellular models that represent various reservoir depositional systems, and quantify the effect of engineering techniques to improve CO2 storage efficiency;
Energy Frontier Research Centers: center for geologic storage of CO2, developing field-scale reservoir models and simulating multiphysics flow and transport to advance understanding of the basic science that will improve the safety and effectiveness of subsurface carbon storage;
Nonconventional CO2-EOR Target: Thick Cypress Oil Reservoirs, evaluating the CO2-EOR and storage potential of a nonconventional CO2-EOR target, the fluvial deltaic facies of the Cypress, and maximizing CO2 storage and EOR through modeling.
