My function as a Human Resources Associate is to develop, complete, and coordinate complex and involved duties and responsibilities related to employment practices, human relations, and appointment processes; interact, communicate, and provide specialized services to internal and external clients; and recommend improved services and assure that high quality products are delivered on time.
My responsibilities include:
Performing a wide variety of assignments of a sensitive and confidential nature that require a working knowledge of research and service operations, personnel, and organizational structure of the ISGS.
Interpreting, applying, and advising staff of policies and procedures; and recommending new policies and procedures.
Preparing, processing, and distributing a multitude of correspondence, forms, documents, and reports for business and human resources transactions.
Processing payroll related documents.
Approving bi-weekly staff payroll.
Interpreting and applying policies and procedures related to visa (J-1, H-1, F-1, OPT, TN) and green card processing and paperwork; and working with the University's International Student and Scholar Services in obtaining employees' visas and permanent residencies.
Serving as the ISGS's FMLA coordinator and workers' compensation liaison.
Overseeing the hiring activity for academic professionals and other academic positions, including, but not limited to, serving on all search committees and ensuring that searches are in compliance with employment policies, procedures, and laws; creating and/or revising end-to-end search approval documentation, job descriptions, hiring criteria, interview questions, and position announcements; coordinating and participating in all interviews; advertising announcements with local, national, and international venues; and responding to employment inquiries from prospective applicants.
Overseeing the civil service hiring requests/reclassifications/reallocations and procedures; working with the University's Staff Human Resources in position development and approval; completing employee requisitions; and coordinating and participating in all candidate interviews and selections.
Overseeing the hiring activity for student workers and other temporary staff.
Conducting new employee orientations.
